About The Position

The Checker provides friendly and courteous customer service by greeting customers and accurately checking out their purchases. The role includes identifying produce and product codes, processing coupons, collecting payment using accepted payment methods, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management. The position requires regular, reliable attendance and working on your feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours. Physical demands include bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

For Store/Facility Teammates applying internally, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center Teammates applying internally, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline; candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
Process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
