About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service while accurately checking out customers’ purchases. The role includes identifying produce and using product codes, processing coupons, accepting various payment types, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging customer orders. Candidates must be available between 6:00 a.m. and 10:15 p.m. The position offers 25 or more hours per week. Training is provided at the store level.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Must be available between 6:00 a.m. and 10:15 p.m.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which lasts 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For Store/Facility Teammates applying internally, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center Teammates applying internally, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
If invited for an interview, internal candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customers’ purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons, and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of store management.
