About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service and accurately processes customers’ purchases and payments. The role requires reliable attendance, the ability to work within the stated availability window of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and availability on Saturdays and Sundays. The position offers 25 or more hours per week. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
Must be available between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which lasts 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store/facility teammates applying internally, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline, and must obtain manager approval based on performance if invited to interview.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and correctly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
