About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service while accurately processing customers’ purchases and payments. The role includes greeting customers before checking their orders, identifying produce and using product codes, processing coupons, collecting the correct amount due, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management. The position requires bending and stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working on one’s feet for the entire 4–8-hour shift.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift (4–8 hours).

Nice To Haves

For internal candidates, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred for Store/Facility Teammates.
For internal candidates, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred for Store Support Center Teammates.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
If invited to interview, internal candidates must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Attend work regularly and reliably.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and use produce and product codes correctly.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons, and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
