About The Position
The Checker provides friendly, courteous service while accurately checking out customers’ purchases. The role involves identifying produce and using product codes, handling coupons and multiple payment types, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging customer orders. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at store management’s discretion. Physical demands include bending, stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and remaining on one’s feet for the entire 4–8-hour shift. For internal candidates, store or facility teammates are preferred to have at least six months of employment with Schnucks, and Store Support Center teammates are preferred to have at least one year. Internal candidates must be in good standing and, if invited to interview, have manager approval based on performance.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
- Greet customers before checking their orders.
- Accurately check out customer purchases.
- Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
- Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
- Process manufacturer coupons.
- Collect the correct amount due from customers.
- Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
- Complete register records accurately.
- Practice and maintain cash security.
- Bag customer orders.
- Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
- Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
