About The Position
The Checker provides friendly, courteous customer service and accurately processes customer purchases and payments. The role requires availability at least from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Training is provided at the store level. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management. The position involves bending and stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working on one's feet for the entire 4–8-hour shift. The stated compensation range is $15.35–$16.75. Nice To Haves
- For internal candidates, store or facility teammates are preferred to have at least six months of employment with Schnucks.
- For internal candidates, Store Support Center teammates are preferred to have at least one year of employment with Schnucks.
- Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
- Internal candidates invited for an interview must have manager approval based on performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
- Greet customers before checking their orders.
- Accurately check out customer purchases.
- Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
- Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
- Process manufacturer coupons.
- Collect the correct amount due from customers.
- Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
- Complete register records accurately.
- Practice and maintain cash security.
- Bag customer orders.
- Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
