About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service while accurately processing customer purchases. The role includes identifying produce and using product codes, distinguishing and processing manufacturer and Schnucks coupons, collecting payment through approved methods, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging customer orders. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Store-level training will be provided. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to bend and stoop.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to work on their feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.
• For internal candidates: Store/Facility Teammates are preferred to have at least six months of employment with Schnucks; Store Support Center Teammates are preferred to have at least one year of employment with Schnucks.
• Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
• Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Nice To Haves

• For internal candidates, at least six months of employment with Schnucks for Store/Facility Teammates or at least one year for Store Support Center Teammates is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Attend work regularly and reliably.
• Greet customers before checking their orders.
• Accurately check out customer purchases.
• Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
• Process manufacturer coupons.
• Collect the correct amount due from customers.
• Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
• Complete register records accurately.
• Practice and maintain cash security.
• Bag customer orders.
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
• Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
