About The Position

The Checker provides friendly and courteous customer service while accurately processing customer purchases and payments. The role includes identifying produce and product codes, handling coupons, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Training is provided at the store level. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Able to bend and stoop.
Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Able to work on their feet for the entire shift, lasting 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally, at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons, and process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options according to proper procedures.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties assigned at the discretion of store management.
