About The Position

The Checker works at the Market Place Schnucks in Columbia, Illinois. The position is 20–25 hours per week, and pay may be negotiable based on experience. Candidates must be 18 or older to apply. Bookkeeping and checking experience is sought. Store-level training will be provided.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Bookkeeping and checking experience is sought.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire 4–8-hour shift.
Internal store/facility teammates: a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal Store Support Center teammates: a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Nice To Haves

For internal store/facility teammates, at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For internal Store Support Center teammates, at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their order.
Accurately check out customer purchases.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
Process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Follow proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
