About The Position

The Checker provides friendly, courteous service while accurately checking out customers’ purchases. The role includes identifying produce and using produce and product codes, processing manufacturer coupons, collecting payment through accepted payment methods, maintaining accurate register records and cash security, and bagging orders. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function. Store-level training will be provided. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Must be able to bend and stoop.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift, which is 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates applying internally, at least six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates applying internally, at least one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Greet customers before checking their orders.
Check out customer purchases accurately.
Identify produce items and properly use produce and product codes.
Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
Process manufacturer coupons.
Collect the correct amount due from customers.
Accept cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers, and other payment options according to proper procedures.
Complete register records accurately.
Practice and maintain cash security.
Bag customer orders.
Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
Perform other duties as assigned by store management.
