About The Position

The Chalk Artist designs and creates chalkboard signs for promotions, store literature, signage, hand-drawn flyers, and shelf signs. The role works with Store Operations Management to help meet or exceed department and store objectives and goals communicated by the Advertisement and Merchandising teams. The position is in Store Operations and reports to the Store Director. It is classified as non-exempt and hourly.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience as a sign maker, assistant sign maker, or equivalent.
• Strong hand-lettering, illustration, and graphic design skills.
• Superior spelling skills.
• Ability to perform simple math operations.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain handwritten and hand-drawn signage for all departments in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain visual quality and consistency across departments.
• Walk all departments daily to inspect sign quality and appearance and replace signs as needed.
• Illustrate chalkboards for display in departments.
• Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment.
• Use courteous and proper etiquette when answering phones and pages.
• Maintain working knowledge of and apply merchandising expectations within the department.
