About The Position

The Certified Surgical Tech demonstrates basic knowledge and skills in the scrub role to assist during surgical procedures performed in the department. The role is responsible for maintaining aseptic technique, preparing equipment, instruments, and sterile supplies for assigned cases, and scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during procedures. The technician also pulls cases as needed, breaks down cases after procedures, and prepares the operating room and supplies for the day’s or following day’s schedule. Availability for call on an assigned schedule is required as unit needs dictate.

Requirements

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program.
• AHA BLS certification.
• Surgical Technology certification.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.
• One year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and set up required equipment, instrumentation, and sterile supplies for assigned cases.
• Scrub and pass instruments and equipment during surgical procedures.
• Pull cases as needed and break down cases at the end of procedures.
• Set up the operating room and supplies needed for the day’s or following day’s schedule.
• Be available for call on an assigned scheduled basis as required by unit need.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
