About The Position
The Certified Operating Room Tech prepares sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintains the sterile field during cases, and provides the surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures. The role is in Surgical Services at St Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, Illinois. It is a full-time day-shift position scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with call required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
- Graduate of an ORT training program, or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years of experience; surgical-setting experience is preferred.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures in generalized surgical specialties such as GYN, General, and Plastics.
- Experience scrubbing at least minor procedures in specialty surgical areas such as orthopedic, neurological, ENT, and urology.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained as current.
