About The Position
As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Charter House, Mayo Clinic’s retirement community in downtown Rochester, Minnesota, you will provide and assist with direct and indirect resident care in Assisted Living and Short-Term Rehabilitation. The role supports residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being in a safe, caring, and engaging community. Staff benefit from interdisciplinary teamwork, around-the-clock staffing, on-site resources, and a variety of practice areas ranging from wellness to complex post-acute care. The role includes self-scheduling and opportunities for career development through Mayo Clinic’s Career Investment Program. Candidates must be available for Mayo Clinic Orientation from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the start date, followed by seven weekdays of Charter House orientation and training from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must hold Nursing Assistant Certification and be listed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
- Must be available to attend all required orientation sessions, including Mayo Clinic Orientation on the start date and seven weekdays of Charter House orientation and training.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and human relations skills for interacting with residents and staff.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress.
- Availability to work varied hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, with rotating days off.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with the geriatric population is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living and promote the highest practicable level of their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
- Maintain working awareness of state and federal regulations.
- Provide direct care duties in a timely manner.
- Interact politely and professionally with residents, family members, visitors, and staff.
- Cross-train to float to other areas of Charter House.
