About The Position

Ascension Saint Thomas Rehabilitation Hospital is a 40-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital treating people recovering from serious injury, trauma, or illness. Its patients are medically stable and need intensive therapy before returning home or moving to a lower level of care. Conditions treated include brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries and joint replacements, and amputations.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an essential part of each patient’s journey toward independence. The role provides daily living care, supports admissions, transfers, and discharges, responds to call lights, monitors and records vital signs and weight, and coordinates care with the rehabilitation treatment plan. The position is full-time on the night shift and offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Complete a nursing assistant training course.
• Hold current state certification as a Nursing Assistant.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily living care to patients.
• Assist with preparing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Answer call lights in a timely manner.
• Revise the plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate the overall plan daily.
• Obtain and record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, and other measurements.
• Make rounds with the oncoming shift to ensure the unit is left in good condition.
• Integrate the plan of care with the Rehabilitation Services treatment plan to help patients attain their optimal level of functioning.
