Certified Nurse Aide CNA
About The Position
Under the supervision of an RN or LPN, the Certified Nurse Aide performs basic patient care activities in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The role reports to the Director or Manager of Department and serves patients ranging from neonates through older adults. The CNA supports patients with routine care, monitors and documents basic health measures, reports changes to nursing staff, and helps maintain clean, orderly patient areas. The position includes participation in performance improvement and continuing education, and may involve working flexible shifts or units as needed.
Requirements
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting or moving patients, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma preferred.
- Handle with Care certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN or LPN, including monitoring vital signs, measuring blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Help keep patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Provide quality patient care and work flexible shifts or units as needed.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
