About The Position

Centra Rehabilitation Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, is hiring a full-time, day-shift Certified Nurse Aide to provide patient care and nursing support in a 50-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital. The hospital provides individualized rehabilitation for people recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury. The role works three 12-hour shifts and contributes to patients’ recovery, safety, comfort, and independence.

Requirements

• Completion of a nursing assistant training course.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a healthcare environment.
• CPR/BCLS certification.
• Current Virginia state certification as a Nursing Assistant.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of experience in an acute care or long-term care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
• Provide general nursing support, including positioning, lifting, turning, and using special equipment.
• Assist with toileting using bedpans, urinals, commodes, or ambulation to the bathroom.
• Accurately take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake/output measurements, and document them promptly.
• Prepare patient rooms for admission and transfer, ensuring cleanliness and equipment readiness.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment, including attention to ventilation and lighting.
• Support patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, including handling patient belongings.
• Answer patient call lights, phones, and pages, responding promptly and appropriately.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
