About The Position

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is hiring a full-time Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to work in the medical department at Garrett County Detention Center in Oakland, Maryland. The position provides comprehensive nursing care and performs duties under the supervision of an RN. The employee must also hold CNA/CMA certification. The schedule is a full-time swing shift, with hours of 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., and work every third weekend of the month. The position includes a two-week orientation involving on-the-job training and shadowing with nursing staff. Base pay is $16.00 per hour; additional compensation may include overtime, shift and weekend differentials, premium holiday pay, and sign-on and employee referral bonuses.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved CMT program.
• Dual certification as a CMT/CNA or CMT/CMA.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Pleasant telephone manner.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge of office and medical equipment.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial intake screenings for new patients.
• Take vital signs and complete appropriate intake forms.
• Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
• Perform daily medication passes and maintain medication records.
• Type reports, letters, and memoranda.
• Answer the telephone and process calls.
• Maintain the filing system and protect information confidentiality.
• Follow universal precautions.
• Maintain a pleasant working attitude.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.
