About The Position

Spanish Cove Retirement Village is hiring a Certified Medication Aide for its Long-Term Care department. The role provides personal care and assistance with daily living activities for elderly residents and people recovering from surgery, injury, or accidents. Duties include helping with hygiene, meals, prescribed medication, mobility, physical therapy exercises, shopping, and housekeeping, as well as reporting unusual incidents and responding responsibly to emergencies. The listed schedule is 5:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., with rotating weekdays and every other weekend. The posting also says the aide must be able to work weekends and holidays and be available for different shifts, including nights and/or weekends. Pay is $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

Be able to work weekends and holidays.
Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting and be eager to improve and continuously learn new skills.
Be able to frequently lift and move people, including lifting, moving, and transferring 100 pounds, and have the physical capability to perform all job-related duties.
Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every day.
Demonstrate the ability to act compassionately and supportively.
Be available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
Be willing to enforce health and safety standards.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience as a caregiver, CNA, or HHA, or completion of a CNA program.
Take pride in providing high-quality care.

Responsibilities

Provide personal hygiene assistance, including help with showering, bathing, dressing, and eating.
Help clients take prescribed medication and assist with ambulation.
Help clients with mobility around the home or outside, including walks and doctor’s appointments.
Plan and prepare meals.
Assist with physical therapy exercises.
Complete clients’ shopping or accompany them while shopping.
Perform housekeeping duties.
Report unusual incidents and respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
Assist patients with meals and other activities essential for daily living, including serving food when necessary.
