About The Position

SWLA Center for Health Services is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join their multidisciplinary care team. This role is crucial in providing clinical support to physicians and mid-level practitioners, ensuring patients receive comprehensive primary care according to NCQA Medical Home Recognition and JCAHO standards. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for various patient care duties, from initial information collection to assisting with procedures and patient education.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • Current certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • CEU’s or equivalent contact hours for re-certification, as applicable.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a competency exam.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one-year work experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant in an ambulatory outpatient facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as an integral part of the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Greets patients and ensures minimal waiting time in exam rooms.
  • Collects necessary patient information, including Chief Complaint and specific physical or clinical complaints, to assist physicians.
  • Ensures patients are properly disrobed for their appointments.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and examinations.
  • Administers medications within the scope of practice as ordered by the physician.
  • Draws laboratory specimens.
  • Carries out assigned duties to provide total patient care.
  • Interprets physician's instructions to patients and/or families.
  • Arranges for follow-up care when required.
  • Calls patients who have "no-showed" to reschedule appointments.
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms, clinic equipment, supplies, and the environment for general operations.
  • Participates in training and health promotion activities.
  • Performs additional duties as prescribed by the Director of Nursing, Chief Medical Officer, and assigned Medical Provider.
  • Assumes additional duties when necessary to ensure quality health services.
