About The Position
Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of a provider or nurse. The role includes assisting with assessments and treatments, performing basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition, documenting care, administering injections, and taking vital signs. The Medical Assistant also maintains equipment, supplies, and examination areas; performs administrative and clerical duties; obtains authorizations; and reviews chart documentation and applies coding guidelines to ensure charges are accurately captured.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient assessments and treatments under the supervision of a provider or nurse.
- Perform basic diagnostic procedures and collect specimens.
- Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
- Document patient care provided.
- Maintain medical equipment and supplies by reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain examination areas.
- Perform assigned administrative or clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
- Administer patient injections and take patients’ vital signs.
- Obtain authorization for consultations, referrals, procedures, and ABNs according to policies.
- Evaluate chart documentation for coding, apply official guidelines and appropriate codes, and document all charges on the fee ticket to ensure complete charge capture.
