About The Position

Duke Health Integrated Practice is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for Duke Otolaryngology of Raleigh. The role performs routine administrative and patient-care support duties to assist medical and nursing staff in examining and treating patients and help ensure the office runs smoothly. A $7,500 commitment bonus and relocation program are available for qualifying candidates. The position is based at Duke Otolaryngology of Raleigh, 3480 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, North Carolina, and works day shift, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA; applicants should specify their certification, certification number, and expiration date on their resume.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Graduation from a Medical Assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred.

Graduation from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Responsibilities

Collect patient intake information, including vital signs, visit information, and other indicated clinical information.
Take telephone messages from patients, document encounters, follow clinic-leadership protocols, and inform the provider.
Administer medications as ordered by providers or under established protocols, following the six rights of medication administration.
Participate in performance improvement projects.
Set up clinical procedures and perform high-level disinfection, sterilization, and other appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment when indicated.
Float within the clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by the nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
