About The Position

Certified Medical Assistant for Sentara Ambulatory Care Clinic. This is a Full-Time, Days position with two openings available. The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The Medical Assistant provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees. They perform patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties as appropriate. The role requires the ability to objectively assess situations, consider alternatives, assist with action plans, and evaluate outcomes. Demonstrates the development of specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and adherence to department and system policies, procedures, and practices. The position demands productivity and efficiency in daily operations, utilizing appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.

Requirements

  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
  • Less than a year of related experience
  • Customer Service skills
  • Clinical skills
  • Administrative skills

Nice To Haves

  • CCMA, NCMA, CMA, RMA certification preferred
