The Ambulatory Care Assistant (ACA) maintains a highly professional environment and fosters collaborative relationships with patients, physicians, referring physicians, and licensed and non-licensed clinic staff. The role supports patient access and clinic flow by performing non-clinical tasks, preparing chart elements, scheduling follow-up visits and imaging and lab work, escorting patients to rooms, and collecting vital signs and patient information. The ACA may perform blood draws with phlebotomy certification and assists physicians with non-sterile tasks, such as removing bandages and collecting samples that do not require sterile procedures. The position also stocks and organizes exam rooms and assists with medical-supply storage. The ACA handles the pre-authorization process and serves as a liaison between providers and patients. Working collaboratively with clinical staff, the ACA helps ensure that required records are received and appropriate testing is completed before appointments or surgery dates. The ACA keeps clinic staff and patients updated on timing to support patient flow and performs other duties as assigned.
