About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for the coordination of patient care needs during the office visit and assisting the nursing personnel and medical staff as needed. The MA assists with clinical and business office duties.

Requirements

  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Graduate from a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
  • CMA Certification through a National or California certifying agency: American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants, Multiskilled Medical Certification Institute, National Healthcareer Association.
  • Ability to apply good clinical judgment, plan work, establish priorities and maintain flexibility.
  • Proficient written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to instruct and teach.
  • Ability to use a computer proficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Uses time efficiently: Rooms patients on time, anticipates providers’ needs and actively works to find additional projects when time is available.
  • Takes accurate vital signs, performs necessary lab work, and ensures that proper documentation is included in the patient’s record prior to provider’s visit.
  • Prepares patient room and equipment for procedures, assisting when necessary.
  • Updates the allergy and medication list.
  • Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications and immunizations under the provider’s written orders.
