About The Position

The Certified Med tech administers medications to assigned residents, documents medication administration and pertinent observations, and works within the scope of practice. The role also supports personnel orientation and in-service training and helps ensure supplies and equipment are used economically, kept clean, and maintained safely.

Requirements

• Current CNA/STNA certification.
• Valid Medication Tech certification in the state employed.
• Valid CPR/AED certification within 60 days of employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, their family members, and all levels of the organization.
• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Documents the resident's medication administration as needed to a licensed nurse.
• Administers medications for assigned residents and documents as necessary.
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Ensures supplies are utilized economically and equipment is clean and maintained safely.
• Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• Works within scope of practice.
