About The Position

The Centralized Scheduling Representative promptly answers telephone calls and schedules patients in a timely manner according to department guidelines. The role schedules outpatient tests and procedures and enters demographic, insurance, and applicable pre-certification information into the 1Chart Scheduling system. The representative listens accurately to requests from patients, physicians, physician office personnel, and inter-hospital departments to schedule procedures effectively, prioritizing customer service and satisfaction.

The role maintains department standards for talk time and works collaboratively as part of a team. Responsibilities also include checking medical necessity and patient insurance, and assisting with maintenance and upgrades to the 1Chart Scheduling system.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude.
• Effective time-management skills.
• Efficiency and organizational skills, including the ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

• Post-secondary education.
• Two to three years of experience in customer service or public relations; two years of previous work experience in other fields may be considered.
• Experience with automated telephone equipment and multi-line telephones.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Previous scheduling experience.
