About The Position

The Cemetery Groundskeeper is responsible for caring for, maintaining, and repairing cemetery property, while helping ensure the safety and security of employees and visitors. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, hard work, and a commitment to providing a high level of customer service. Duties include landscape and general property maintenance, equipment upkeep, safe operation of machinery, support for funeral services, and installation of cemetery vaults, headstones, and memorials as needed. Snow removal may be required where applicable. The Groundskeeper also performs other duties assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.

This position requires a high school equivalency, at least two years of experience in maintenance or a related field, the ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery, and a valid state driver’s license. Candidates must be able to lift up to 80 pounds, follow written memos and directives, manage multiple tasks amid interruptions, and demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Availability to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed is required.

Requirements

• High school equivalency required.
• At least 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Ability to read and execute memos and directives from a supervisor or management.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Availability to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Demonstrates compassion, customer focus, and ethics and values.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscape maintenance, including weed-whacking and lawn mowing.
• Maintain equipment.
• Perform functions related to funeral services.
• Operate machinery safely and appropriately.
• Install or assist with installing cemetery vaults.
• Install headstones or memorials as needed.
• Perform day-to-day general maintenance duties.
• Remove snow when applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.
• Support the safety and security of employees and visitors at the location.
• Provide a high level of service to customers.
