About The Position

The Cemetery Groundskeeper is responsible for the care, maintenance, and repair of cemetery property and for helping ensure the safety and security of employees and visitors. The role involves landscape upkeep, equipment maintenance, operating machinery safely, assisting with funeral-service functions, installing vaults and memorials, and performing general maintenance, including snow removal where applicable. The position requires dependable, detail-oriented service and a compassionate, customer-focused approach.

Requirements

• High school equivalency.
• At least 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Ability to read and execute memos and directives from a supervisor or management.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Availability to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscape maintenance duties, including weed-whacking and lawn mowing.
• Maintain equipment.
• Perform functions related to funeral services.
• Operate machinery safely and appropriately.
• Install or assist with installing cemetery vaults.
• Install headstones or memorials as needed.
• Handle day-to-day general maintenance duties.
• Perform snow removal where applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Grounds Superintendent.
