CDL-A Trainee Driver – Start Your Trucking Career
About The Position
NIS Express is hiring entry-level Class A CDL drivers in Prairieville, LA. If you have completed 120 or more hours at an accredited CDL school, you qualify for our paid one-on-one training program. This program lasts 3 to 5 weeks and covers tractor-trailer operation, road safety, ELD compliance, vehicle inspections, and company policies. You will be paired with a dedicated trainer from day one and will go solo only after completing supervised miles and evaluations. The equipment used is 2024-2025 Freightliner/Kenworth APU-equipped trucks, hauling dry van freight that is 100% no-touch and approximately 70% drop and hook. The area of operation is East of I-35.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL license required
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Completion of 120 or more hours at an accredited CDL school
- Acceptable driving record with a focus on safety
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug screen
Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A tractor-trailer safely and in compliance with all DOT regulations
- Transport no-touch dry van freight – approximately 70% drop and hook
- Meet delivery appointments and maintain on-time performance
- Keep accurate ELD logs, DVIRs and trip reports
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report issues immediately
- Communicate professionally with dispatch and customers
