About The Position

Universal Dedicated of Detroit is seeking reliable CDL-A drivers for local shuttle routes based in Detroit, MI. This is a great opportunity to join a union position with steady freight, consistent schedules, and daily home time. This role involves safely transporting materials between terminal and customer locations, following delivery schedules based on customer production needs, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining DOT compliance, communicating with dispatch and operations teams, and ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment. The position is a union position with benefits (Teamsters Local 299) and offers seniority-based route bidding every 6 months. There are 2nd shift openings from 2 pm to 11:30 pm, with typical overtime of 1-5 hours per week. This is a touch freight position, involving chaining/strapping loads only, with no loading/unloading required.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Clean driving record with strong safety history
• Ability to meet DOT requirements
• Strong communication and time management skills

Nice To Haves

• T2T (Train-to-Train) program required for recent graduates (Experienced drivers may be exempt based on prior experience)
