This is an entry-level driver training role for a driver with a CDL A license. The driver learns to drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and/or interstate local, over-the-road, shuttle, and/or overnight routes, delivering and unloading food and food-related products to customers. Routes must be completed safely and in accordance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver communicates and interacts professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, and performs assigned duties to serve the company. The schedule is Monday through Friday with early morning start times. Drivers are primarily home daily, with occasional layovers for which hotel accommodations and per diem are provided. Drivers average $80,000 annually, with some top performers earning more than $100,000 annually. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered subject to terms; people who worked for a PFG-owned company within the prior six months are ineligible for the incentive. The role includes required training, riding with and assisting a driver trainer, vehicle and freight inspections, customer deliveries and unloading, completing required paperwork and hours-of-service records, and maintaining safe and clean equipment. The company describes its pay and benefits as competitive and its working environment as safe and inclusive.
