About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking safety-conscious Class A Linehaul Drivers to transfer freight to specified locations in a timely manner. Drivers hook and unhook commercial trailers and complete paperwork required by government regulations and company procedures. The role operates a tractor-trailer combination over long distances between customer and terminal locations. The route runs from Kansas City to Wichita, and drivers are home daily with weekends off. The shift starts at 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Compensation is a flat rate of $361.94 per day, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The position is based in Kansas City, Kansas, and reports to the Service Center Manager.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL.
• At least 21 years of age.
• At least 1 year of commercial driving experience.
• No DUI or DWI convictions in the past 3 years.
• No more than 3 traffic violations in the past 3 years.
• Must have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain them; renewals are reimbursable.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment.
• Ability to frequently enter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle.
• Ability to carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.
• Ability to manually lower and raise landing gear; operate fifth wheel release levers; lock and release pintle-hooks; attach and release safety chains; open and close cargo doors; climb into and out of vehicles; and fuel vehicles and check their oil and coolant levels.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Hook up and haul trailers between customer and terminal locations as instructed by dispatch or an immediate supervisor.
• Ensure shipping documentation is available for DOT inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipments to their delivery points.
• Operate a tractor-trailer combination for extended periods over long distances.
• Hook and unhook commercial vehicle combinations and perform related vehicle and freight-handling tasks.
