The company hires drivers with at least one year of OTR tractor-trailer experience and provides paid flatbed training, so prior flatbed experience is not required. Training lasts 2 to 3 weeks and includes classroom instruction and hands-on practice securing and tarping loads such as steel, pipe, and building materials. An additional week with a road trainer may be provided if needed. After training, drivers receive their own assigned truck and work as solo flatbed drivers. Most drivers operate regionally within five states and are home every weekend for a 34-hour reset. Pay is $800 per week during training and a minimum of $800 per week for the first four weeks solo. Thereafter, drivers earn 26% of the load, increasing to 27% after 12 weeks. Experienced flatbed drivers average $1,400 to $1,600 per week. Additional compensation includes a $300 weekly non-taxed per diem, $40 per tarped load, and $16 per hour in detention pay after two hours. Pay is deposited every Friday by direct deposit. Drivers use an assigned automatic Cascadia or T680 truck that is three years old or newer. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage beginning the first of the month after 30 days, a 401(k) with company match, free $10,000 life insurance, and paid vacation. Orientation is paid, with hotel, meals, and travel covered. Riders and pets may ride free.
