The CDL-A Flatbed Driver transports steel coil, plate, flat steel, pipe, and building materials, typically running regional routes within five states. Drivers cover approximately 2,000 to 2,500 miles per week and are home every weekend for a 34-hour reset. Dispatch is flexible, and drivers are never forced to take a load. The assigned truck is a Cascadia or T680 automatic, three years old or newer, with inverters on 2023 and newer trucks, bunk heaters, and idling allowed. Pay is 27% of each load, with an average weekly gross of $1,400 to $1,600 for drivers home on weekends. Drivers who stay out may earn up to $2,000 per week. The package also includes $300 per week in non-taxed per diem, $40 for each tarped load, detention pay of $16 per hour after two hours, $50 per day for layover, and $100 per day for breakdowns. Pay is issued by direct deposit every Friday. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is paid in installments: $1,500 after the first load, $1,500 at six months, and $2,000 at one year. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage starting the first of the month after 30 days; a 401(k) with company match; free $10,000 life insurance; paid vacation after the first year; and paid orientation with hotel, meals, and travel covered. Riders and pets are allowed at no cost from the first day.
