About The Position

US Foods is hiring a CDL A Delivery Driver to deliver products to customers on Long Island and in New York City. Drivers safely navigate highways and city streets, maneuver into tight docks, and unload products with precision. The role is 100% touch freight and involves placing products in designated storage areas. Drivers work 5–6 days per week, including one weekend day, with dispatch between 2:00 AM and 4:30 AM.

Drivers earn a daily minimum of $320 through component-based pay, which is based on factors such as stops, miles, and cases. The posting states that drivers average $115,000 in year one. Eligible new hires may receive a $12,000 retention bonus, or a $20,000 retention bonus for eligible new hires with at least two years of commercial food delivery experience.

Requirements

• Register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Hold a valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence, with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• Have at least 6 months of commercial driving experience in any industry, or at least 3 months of commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry.
• Be able to read and communicate in English, including holding a conversation, understanding highway traffic signs and signals, responding to official inquiries, and entering information on reports and records.
• Be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and lower 20 to 80+ pounds of product repetitively during each shift.
• Be able to drive and work in inclement weather and make frequent stops (10+ per shift).
• Be comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment as low as 0 degrees.
• Be able to continuously grasp and manipulate objects and frequently sit, stand, walk, drive, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel/bend, reach above shoulder, twist, and use manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to operate a manual transmission; this may be required in specific locations.
• At least 2 years of commercial food delivery experience for eligibility for the $20,000 retention bonus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products to customers safely and on time.
• Unload products efficiently using a two-wheeler, ramp, or by hand, and place them in designated storage areas.
• Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures.
• Provide professional customer service.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
• Handle collections and payments when applicable.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
