The CCL Apprentice I learns on the job under the supervision of a journeyman. Apprentices begin by developing foundational construction skills that support safety and productivity across industry sectors, including site safety, construction math, hand and power tools, construction drawings, basic rigging and material handling, communication and employability skills, confined-space awareness, fall protection, and First Aid/CPR/AED. After successfully completing these core skills, apprentices progress to increased industry knowledge in one or more areas of concentration: industrial, wind, and solar construction. The role includes formal and on-the-job training, required homework and evaluations, and maintaining a log of on-the-job training activities. Apprentices perform general physical labor, may operate a range of hand and power tools and equipment, and may help prepare and clean construction sites. They follow company, legal, health, and safety requirements; work with colleagues and clients; and carry out tasks as directed by a journeyman or supervisor. The position requires travel and work away from the home base area for the entire apprenticeship program. Compensation is $20.00 per hour. The posting also lists competitive pay with ongoing performance reviews and merit increases, a 401(k) with company match, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, flexible spending accounts, and medical, dental, and vision insurance plan choices, including coverage for a spouse or domestic partner.
