The CCL Apprentice I learns on the job under the supervision of a journeyman. Apprentices begin by developing core construction skills that support safety and productivity across industry sectors. Training includes construction site safety, construction math, hand and power tools, construction drawings, basic rigging and material handling, communication and employability skills, confined-space awareness, fall protection, and First Aid/CPR/AED. After completing core skills, apprentices advance their industry knowledge in one or more concentration areas: Industrial, Wind, and Solar Construction. The role combines formal training with on-the-job training and general construction labor. Apprentices may use hand and power tools and other construction equipment, prepare sites, dig trenches, erect scaffolding, and assist other craft workers. The position requires travel and work away from the home base area for the entire apprenticeship program.
