Catholic Substitute Teacher
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time substitute teacher for its classical, Catholic classroom at its center in Omaha, Nebraska. The position is hourly and offers up to 13 hours per week. Substitutes are called as needed when staff are out sick and may decline assignments when unavailable. Possible work hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Regina Caeli Academy is a national classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting. Substitutes receive clear classroom instructions, curriculum and grading guidelines, and training in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. Mandatory virtual staff training modules are completed at home before teaching. Childcare/nursery is provided. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required. Employees must pass a background check and be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church. No additional vacation days are given; accommodations are made for sick days as needed.
Requirements
- Be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and have a deep love for the Catholic faith.
- Live the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to one's state in life.
- Have strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
- Have a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
- Complete a clear background check before teaching.
- Complete mandatory virtual staff training modules at home before teaching.
Nice To Haves
- Experience homeschooling or working with homeschooled children.
- Experience in ministry in a Catholic parish or teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
- Experience teaching one's own children.
- Experience teaching in a classical or private school.
Responsibilities
- Substitute for classroom staff when they are absent, guiding students in the classroom according to provided instructions and RCA standards.
- Provide instruction and classroom management in accordance with RCA curriculum and grading guidelines.
