About The Position

Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time substitute teacher for its classical, Catholic classroom in Jacksonville, Florida, for the 2026–2027 academic year. The position is for 13 hours per week on an as-needed basis when staff members are out sick; substitutes may decline assignments when unavailable. Center hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Regina Caeli Academy is a national classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition that offers instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting. Curriculum and grading guidelines are provided, and tutors are trained to deliver instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. Childcare/nursery is provided. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required.

Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and have a deep love for the Catholic faith. Staff must complete a clear background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching. No additional vacation days are given; accommodations are made for sick days as needed.

Requirements

• Be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
• Have a deep love for the Catholic faith and live the Catholic faith day to day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to one's state in life.
• Have strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
• Have a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
• Complete a clear background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching.

Nice To Haves

• Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children.
• Experience in parish ministry or teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
• Experience teaching one's own children.
• Experience teaching in a classical or private school.

Responsibilities

• Teach in a classical and Catholic classroom when staff are absent, on an as-needed basis.
• Provide instruction and classroom management according to Regina Caeli Academy standards.
• Follow the provided curriculum and grading guidelines.
