Catholic Substitute Teacher
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time substitute teacher for its classical and Catholic classroom at its center in Omaha, Nebraska. The position is hourly and offers up to 13 hours per week. Substitutes are called as needed when staff are out sick and may decline assignments when unavailable. Possible substitute hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Regina Caeli Academy is a national classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Substitutes receive clear instructions, curriculum and grading guidelines, and training in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. Mandatory virtual staff training modules must be completed at home before teaching. Childcare/nursery is provided. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required. No additional vacation days are provided, with accommodations for sick days as needed.
Requirements
- Be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and have a deep love for the Catholic faith.
- Live the Catholic faith day to day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to one's state in life.
- Have strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
- Hold a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
- Complete a clear background check before teaching at Regina Caeli Academy.
Nice To Haves
- Experience homeschooling or working with homeschooled children.
- Experience in ministry in a Catholic parish.
- Experience teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
- Experience teaching one's own children.
- Experience teaching in a classical or private school.
Responsibilities
- Provide substitute instruction in a classical and Catholic classroom when staff are absent.
- Guide students and manage the classroom according to Regina Caeli Academy standards.
- Complete mandatory virtual staff training modules at home before teaching.
