Catholic Substitute Teacher
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time substitute teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom in Austin, Texas, for up to 13 hours per week. Substitutes are called in as needed when staff are absent and may decline assignments when unavailable. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required; training is provided. Curriculum and grading guidelines are supplied, and tutors are trained to provide instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. The academy offers instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. The position is hourly, and childcare/nursery is provided. Staff must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and live the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to their state in life. All employees must complete a clear background check, and staff complete RCA Safe Child training before teaching. Regular hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; substitute work is called in as needed.
Requirements
- Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
- Must have a deep love for the Catholic faith and live the faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to their state in life.
- Must complete a clear background check.
- Must complete RCA Safe Child training before teaching.
- Ideal applicants have strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, and a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
