About The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for generating catering revenue through the proactive sale of event space, food and beverage services, and related amenities. This role manages client relationships from initial inquiry through event execution, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience. The ideal candidate is sales-driven, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating memorable events.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in catering sales, hotel convention services, banquet management, hotel sales, or culinary arts (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Guest-focused with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding service

Responsibilities

  • Book all social catering functions in accordance with established goals set by hotel to reach expected revenues via the annual budget.
  • Develop a target sales and marketing plan with focus on social and meeting catering functions which will include a combination of sales calls, site visits and prospecting for future relationships.
  • Assist with the development of banquet menus.
  • Participate in 30-60-90 day banquet forecasting.
  • Coordinate in-house sales promotions and associate functions.
  • Greet client upon arrival.
  • Facilitate and communicate details related to catering functions to management.
  • Maintain professionalism in problem situations.
  • Maintain detailed records of discussions with guest, including all meeting setups, food and beverage, etc.
  • Upsell to improve revenue generation on property.
  • Be readily available during functions for consultation with client.
  • Preside at conference planning meetings where details related to group coordination will be discussed and reviewed by management.
  • Participate in site reviews.
  • Conduct exit interviews with clients to solidify repeat business and distribute results.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual hotel budget.
  • Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
