The Catastrophe Field Property Adjuster inspects properties damaged by perils such as wind, hail, water, lightning, and fire. The role involves traveling up to 90% of the time, including overnight travel, to conduct inspections throughout the United States. Typical work includes driving to properties, inspecting damage, reviewing policies and endorsements to determine coverage, preparing estimates using Xactimate, and settling claims with customers on site. The schedule is 10 days on and 4 days off, with 12-hour workdays throughout the year. When travel is not possible or weather prevents an on-site inspection, the adjuster handles claims remotely through the ClaimsX Video Collaboration platform. The adjuster provides empathetic customer service; independently investigates property claims; communicates with customers by phone, email, and sometimes video; negotiates settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants; uses estimating and settlement tools to resolve claims; and documents claim activity accurately and promptly. Depending on the office or area, the employee may need to obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license within 60 days of hire. The role is not available to residents of California, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, or Puerto Rico.
