About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performs customer service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and in a friendly manner and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by remaining knowledgeable about products and advertised sales, maintaining nearby shelves and pegs, and helping customers make buying decisions. This includes identifying and evaluating customer needs, making product recommendations, and promoting programs such as CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the shift.
• Ability to move and lift objects up to 20 pounds constantly and occasionally move and lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more, using a team lift as needed.

Responsibilities

• Check out customers’ merchandise through POS registers.
• Provide friendly, prompt customer service and handle merchandise with care.
• Approach customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
• Remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not ringing up products.
• Identify and evaluate customer needs and make product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
