About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performs customer-service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and in a friendly manner and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by maintaining product knowledge, staying aware of advertised sales, and assisting customers with buying decisions and relevant programs. When not ringing up merchandise, the Cashier stocks and straightens shelves and pegs in the immediate area. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate with customers and associates in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.

Responsibilities

• Check out customers’ merchandise through POS registers.
• Provide friendly, prompt customer service and handle merchandise with care.
• Approach customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
• Maintain product knowledge and awareness of advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not checking out customers.
• Identify and evaluate customer needs and make product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
