About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performs customer-service activities, including promptly and warmly greeting and acknowledging customers and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by remaining knowledgeable about products and advertised sales, maintaining nearby shelves and pegs when not ringing up purchases, and helping customers make buying decisions. The position operates under general supervision using established procedures, with occasional independent judgment to complete assignments and recommendations on work procedures, policies, and practices.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change for customers.
• Ability to communicate with customers and associates in a friendly, professional manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.

Responsibilities

• Process customers’ merchandise through POS registers.
• Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and in a friendly manner.
• Handle merchandise with care and help ensure a pleasant, productive shopping experience.
• Approach customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
• Remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not directly ringing up products.
• Assist customers with buying decisions by identifying and evaluating their needs and making product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
