About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through POS registers and performs customer service activities, including greeting and acknowledging customers promptly and in a friendly manner and handling merchandise with care. The role supports a pleasant and productive shopping experience by staying knowledgeable about products and advertised sales, maintaining nearby shelves and pegs, and helping customers make buying decisions through needs assessment, product recommendations, and promotion of programs such as CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up. The position performs duties under general supervision using established procedures and innovation, with occasional independent judgment to complete assignments and often makes recommendations regarding work procedures, policies, and practices.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.

Responsibilities

• Check out customers’ merchandise through POS registers.
• Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and in a friendly manner.
• Handle merchandise with care and support a pleasant, productive shopping experience.
• Approach customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
• Remain knowledgeable about products and advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not ringing up merchandise.
• Identify and evaluate customers’ needs, make product recommendations, and promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
