About The Position
The Cashier is an hourly position responsible for serving customers at the Farm’s retail stands in accordance with established Farm policies, strategies, and procedures. The role operates under the supervision of the Customer Service Manager and any Cashier Supervisors. The Cashier provides attentive customer service, answers questions, processes purchases accurately, and helps maintain clean, organized retail areas and product displays. The position may also involve bagging groceries, retrieving carts, helping customers carry purchases to their cars, and performing other assigned duties related or unrelated to the ordinary duties described.
Requirements
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Possess a strong work ethic.
- Be able to stand for long periods of time.
Nice To Haves
- Previous cashier and/or customer service experience.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide courteous, attentive customer service by answering questions, processing sales, directing customers to products, and helping ensure a positive visitor experience.
- Stay familiar with the retail layout and knowledgeable about retail items.
- Process customer purchases efficiently and accurately, including cash, check, credit card, gift certificate, and mixed-tender transactions; maintain drawer accuracy.
- Keep counter areas clean and orderly and assist with cleaning and organizing retail facilities.
- Bag groceries, retrieve carts, maintain neat workspaces, and sometimes assist customers with purchases to their cars.
- Inform the retail manager or supervisor when products need replenishing.
- Assist retail stockers with maintaining and stocking product displays; keep products clean, organized, properly labeled, and fully stocked; periodically remove old or damaged items.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
