About The Position

The Cashier checks out customers’ merchandise through point-of-sale registers and performs customer-service activities. The role includes promptly and warmly greeting customers, handling merchandise carefully, and supporting a pleasant, productive shopping experience. When not operating the register, the Cashier stocks and straightens shelves and pegs in the immediate area. The position also helps customers make purchasing decisions by identifying and evaluating their needs, recommending products, and promoting programs such as CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and provide correct change.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the shift and perform the physical activities described in the posting, including moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds constantly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally with team-lift assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Check out customers’ merchandise using the POS register system.
• Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and in a friendly manner.
• Handle merchandise with care and help ensure a pleasant, productive shopping experience.
• Maintain product knowledge and awareness of advertised sales.
• Stock and straighten shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not ringing up products.
• Identify and evaluate customer needs and make product recommendations.
• Promote programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
